What is World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is a great meeting of Catholic young people from all over the world gathered around the Holy Father, Pope Francis. It is one of the primary means by which the Church proclaims the message of Christ to young people. In 2016 World Youth Day will be hosted in Krakow, Poland.
What are the dates of the World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is in fact a series of events leading up to a final celebration of Mass with Pope Francis and young people from across the world. The Galloway Pilgrimage to World Youth Day will take place from Tuesday 20th July until Tuesday 2nd August. From 20th - 25th July the group will stay with different families in a Polish diocese to be confirmed. On 25th July the group will travel to Krakow and stay in University accomodation in the city centre to take part in the World Youth Day programme until Sunday 31st July. The group will stay in Krakow for two days after the final celebration of Mass to do some sightseeing.

By plane between Edinburgh Airport and Krakow Balice Aiport.
How do I prepare for World Youth Day?
World Youth Day is the ideal opportunity to renew your faith in Jesus and his Church, to attend Sunday Mass and to be actively involved in your parish community. There will be a number of meetings of the participants every few months from September 2015 until our departure in July 2016. The first meeting is an information meeting for those interested in taking part and will take place in St John's church hall, 92 Glaisnock Street, Cumnock, KA18 1JU on Sunday 20th September from 3 - 5 pm. What are the Days in the Diocese?
Days in the dioceses, preceding the main celebrations of World Youth Day, are a time that pilgrims spend in selected dioceses of the country that organises the meeting of young people. In Poland they will take place between 20th and 25th of July, and they are already being prepared in 43 dioceses of the country (41 Roman Catholic dioceses and 2 Greek Catholic). For the pilgrims the Days in the dioceses are an invitation to discover the richness of the Church and of the country that they visit, as well as to meet families and young people who want to receive them. What is the programme for the World Youth Days in Krakow from 25th - 31st July?
The prgramme includes: catechesis (teaching by a bishop) and Mass, workshops, opportunities for the Sacrament of Penance (Confession), Stations of the Cross, a Prayer Vigil led by the Pope and overnight camp with Mass in the morning with Pope Francis. How much does it cost?
The cost of the pilgrimage is £690 and includes:

The cost can be paid in instalments and the payment schedule is:
£150 by 30th September 2015 (non-refundable)
another £200 by 30th November 2015
another £200 by 31st January 2016
another £140 by 31st March 2016.
